I can't make this stuff up: I didn't read your post till just now. But you mentioned "however bad your day could have been..." with the puppy story. I think I *still* had a worse day:
I was dumped the day you wrote the post. And once I finally fell asleep, much later, I had a nightmare about being trapped in some scary water drain thing that was filling up with water. Pretty scary. So in some sense I think I managed to get both the drain-trapping story and a breakup in the same day! So there! :(
